Corrie Ten Boom?

GOVERNOR MINNER, WHAT WILL YOUR LEGACY
BE?

Lady MacBeth?

WEITZ EXEC FLEES FROM TRUTH!

Today the Collaborators Project conducted
another Holiday Home Visit at the residence of Gary Meggison, in Lakewood, Colorado.

About 20 protestors of the Planned Parenthood Super Baby Death Camp, being built by Weitz
in a minority neighborhood at Stapleton, gathered, sang songs and preached God's word to Mr. Meggison and his neighbors.

Cal Zastrow brought a strong message, begging Gary and his neighbors' hearts to break for the
4,000 innocent pre-born babies who are murdered by Planned Parenthood and America's abortionists, daily.

Lakewood Police were called and asked us to keep the preaching level down. As the Christians continued with songs, Meggison left home to flee from the truth he was forced to confront.

With due respect to the office of Governor of the State of Delaware:

"As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over
them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy
the way of thy paths. Isaiah 3:12 "
(The Authorized King James Version)

Governor Minner:

I am sad to receive your reply, but not totally surprised for:

It is contrary to God's Word that women should rule in the place of men.

In fact, it is a judgment on our nation when women rule: Were men of
great godly conviction and fortitude standing where you are standing
now, Lauren's life might be spared.

It is our nation's greatest shame, that those godly men are not to be
found at their posts.

Leaving Lauren's life to you, you who will leave her innocent life to
be guarded by the dogs of the judiciary, will only hasten Lauren
Richardson's death without trial or reason. You will stand by and do
nothing, wiping the crocodile tears you shed for Lauren, from blinded
eyes, begging prayers on her behalf from other gods than the God of
the Scriptures Who demands Lauren's Personhood should be shielded,
protected and defended, by you: You, and everyone on Earth who claims
they pray to the One True God.

Sincerely and with tears,

Eve Sanchez Silver, Believer

$10,000 Offer to National RTL From American RTL to Name 'One' Pro-Life Justice
PR Newswire
Article Last Updated: 05/21/2008 12:53:40 PM MDT

DENVER, May 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- "American Right To Life is offering attorney James Bopp $10,000 for National RTL," said the group's president Brian Rohrbough, "if he can name a single justice on the current U.S. Supreme Court who has ever acknowledged that the unborn child has a right to life, whether in a majority opinion or a dissent."

"A quarter century after Bopp and NRTL refused President Ronald Reagan's offer to work toward federalpersonhood legislation, they have long opposed all state personhood efforts," says the group's site AmericanRTL. HYPERLINK "http://americanrtl.org/" org.

On May 13, Colorado pro-lifers turned in 131,000 signatures exceeding by 55,000 the number needed to force a statewide vote to acknowledge in law the personhood of the unborn child.

"National Right to Life has misled the pro-life community to think that this is the wrong time to advocate personhood because we need one more Justice on the Supreme Court to have a pro-life majority," said Rohrbough. "But if we added a Justice who would uphold the right to life of the unborn, then we would haveonly one such Justice. The failed long-term strategy of regulating the killing of a fetus has left America without a single Justice who knows that it's wrong to kill an unborn baby; NRTL's compromise will never produce a pro-life court."

"Governor Minner understands and appreciates your concern for Lauren Richardson. While this must be a very difficult time for Lauren’s family and friends, Governor Minner respects the legal process governing this case, the separation of power between the judicial and the executive branches of state government and has faith in the judicial branch to independently and objectively review the case. OBIT FOR ANOTHER DEATH PEDDLER!

Today the LA Times reports the death of one

STANDING UP TO THE HOUNDS OF HELL!!

British Abortion Advocates Target Pro-Life MP With Harassment Campaign

by Steven Ertelt
LifeNews.com Editor
May 16, 2008

London, England (LifeNews.com) -- Vandalism and harassment are nothing new for pro-life advocates in the United States and now a leading pro-life member of the British Parliament is feeling the heat. Nadine Dorries, who is heading up a campaign to reduce late-term abortions, is the target of threats and harassment.

Dorries, a Conservative Party MP, is leading an effort to tighten the limit on late-term abortions from 24 to 20 weeks into pregnancy.

That has earned her significant publicity in the British media but also the scorn of extreme abortion advocates who want to allow late-term abortions.

Dorries tells the Bedford Today newspaper she has received threatening messages over the phone and in the mail and suspicious packages that she has reported to authorities.

The intimidation campaign has also included abortion advocates writing threatening messages on the windows of her home.

"The hounds of hell are chasing me," Dorries said in a post on her web site. "Scary, threatening angry and downright nasty phone calls. A message smeared on my window."

"This is all meant to destabilize or distract me. I have a very clear message to those who are attempting to do this - back off," she said, standing her ground.

"You will not stop me, you will not undermine me, you do not scare me. In fact, you make me much more determined than I ever was before. You give me strength," she added.

Dorries said she had received an email of support from Michael Clancy, the photographer who took the famous picture of Samuel Armas, who was operated on in surgery while he was still is his mother's womb.

Armas is show in the photo clutching the finger of his physician while he was still 21 weeks into the pregnancy.

Clancy encouraged Dorries to continue her efforts to protect unborn children who are victims of late-term abortions.

AND ANOTHER FOR LAUREN!

Dear Governor Minner:

The bottom line regarding the preservation of Lauren Richardson's life
is that she is a living person and guilty of no crime that would
demand her death.

Innocent life is not negotiable.

No lawyer's brief or report from a team of physicians can change the
radical truth that Lauren Richardson's Personhood is reason enough to
keep her alive. And not just "enough" but reason to call in the troops
to preserve, defend and protect Laurel's life from those who would
dare to extinguish her God ordained being, in our world. It is
Personhood that must be protected at every single level in the
continuum of life from birth, through frailty and old age. Personhood
is reason enough to honor the living with life. Personhood is reason
enough to honor the dead. Personhood raises the monuments to our
fallen, our wounded, our heroes. Personhood raises the infirmary and
the missionary and the nursing mother at 4 AM. Personhood is enough to
preserve the yet to be born, the yet to die, the dying and the ill.

Governor Minner, as you consider your options regarding the situations
before you as a governor of the persons living in your state, let
Lauren Richardson's Personhood recalibrate your mind, heart, spirit
and gumption sir; it is an easy decision to make, because Personhood
cannot be denied.

As the United States accepts the euthanization of its Persons, it
slips further and further down among its corpses, morally debased,
utterly hollow of spirit and conviction.

Be the strong voice against the lie. Stand up. Speak out. Lead:Save
Lauren Richardson's Personhood.

I will then join my voice to yours.

Most sincerely,

HERE'S ONE FOR LAUREN!!

Governor Ruth Minner
State of Delaware
governor.minner@state.de.us

Dear Governor Minner:

I am writing to you concerning the life of Lauren Richardson. I am asking that you intervene in order to save Lauren from what I fear is an imminent court order indicating that Lauren be starved and dehydrated to death.

I know that it may be easy for some people to say that in her current state her life is not worth living and therefore not worth saving, but I ask you to search your heart. There have been several people in recent years that have suddenly been awakened from comas. I ask you to consider that the same thing may happen for Lauren. She may wake up one day and ask to see her daughter.

What happens when this child grows up wondering how an entire state of people could stand by as they did Terri Schiavo--watching her mom starve to death?

As summer draws near I am spending more and more time enjoying bright skies and warm breezes. These are things…even in a coma that Lauren can feel. As I grow thirsty and guzzle down bottles of refreshing ice cold water, I can’t help but think that there are people who will go to great lengths to keep Lauren from receiving hydration. I can’t imagine being that thirsty.

I wonder if Lauren’s daughter will one day ask how so many people could stand by as her mother’s lips dried and cracked—her tongue swelling up—with dark sunken eyes planted in ashy, scaly, flaking, skeletal skin.

Governor Minner, I am begging you to do what others in your position, (and higher), were not courageous enough to do in Florida. I am asking you to use the power that your office holds to stand up for the life of this young girl.

In an era of “dead beat dads”, society presses fathers to step up to the plate to take care of their children. Lauren has a father who wants to do just that.

Please, grant Lauren Richardson a “stay of execution.” Please, allow her to live.

Sincerely,

Day Deborah Lipford-Gardner

PUTTING FACES TO BURMA'S HORROR!

Winds of change coming to Myanmar

The horrific cyclone that killed thousands in Burma may change. A biography about a Catholic of Burma is a testament of faith and hope in the face of a brutal dictatorship sustained by torture and rape.

Thursday, May 15, 2008 By Lord David Alton

Throughout the 18 years since Aung San Suu Kyi has been under house arrest, the Burmese military regime have repeatedly promised and failed to deliver democratic change. These are the same secretive leaders who gave orders for Buddhist monks to be mown down in the streets and who are now impeding rescue efforts as hundreds of thousands of their countrymen die following the decimation of their homes and land by Cyclone Nargis. They are the same men who have ignored 28 United Nations General assembly and Human Rights Commission resolutions

QUESTION OF THE DAY -
IF NOT OUR LIFETIME!!

This thoughtful blogpost about oral contraceptives raises about the most compelling question seen in a long time.

If we are hearing so much about these products, but women still get pregnant while using them, why do people still insist on promoting them? And, why is the next "responsible choice" an abortion? Why do we justify or promote murder as the solution to product failure? (Great question!!)

The US Supreme Court knew what they were saying in the 1994 casePlanned Parenthood v. Casey,:

[F]or two decades of economic and social developments, people have organized intimate relationships and made choices that define their views of themselves and their places in society, in reliance on the availability of abortion in the event that contraception should fail. (505 US 833, 856)

131,000 Coloradans endorse 'personhood' plan
Ballot initiative would extend constitution's protections to pre-born
Posted: May 13, 2008
9:41 pm Eastern

Kristi Burton, spokeswoman for Colorado for Equal Rights, and her mother announcing more than 131,000 Coloradans want a personhood amendment on the 2008 election ballot
More than 131,000 Coloradans have endorsed a plan to put an initiative on the fall 2008 election ballot that would allow voters to extend the U.S. Constitution's protections to those who haven't been born yet, something supporters say the U.S. founders intended all along.

In a campaign that opponents fret is a direct challenge to the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision in which the Supreme Court discovered the right of a mother-to-be to abort her unborn child, the Colorado personhood amendment is a simple proposal.

"This proposed constitutional amendment will define a person in Colorado as a human being from the moment of fertilization, the moment when life begins," according to a statement at the sponsoring group, Colorado for Equal Rights.

At a news conference today, Colorado for Equal Rights spokeswoman Kristi Burton was asked by a reporter about the "Christian" perspective of the campaign.

Not so fast, she said, because this campaign is based on "biology 101."

(Story continues below)

WOO HOO!!

Colorado for Equal Rights turned in over 131,000
signatures to the Colorado Secretary of State
today. Nearly twice the 76,000 required, it looks
very likely that Coloradans will be confronting their
consciences this fall to decide one of life's most
compelling questions, when does life begin?

Doesn't everyone deserve equal protection under the
law?

Was Harry Blackmun, the architect of Roe v Wade correct?

410 U.S. 113 (1973). “In the Roe v. Wade decision, Justice Harry Blackmun wrote that, ‘(If the) suggestion of personhood [of the preborn] is established, the [abortion rights] case, of course, collapses, for the fetus’ right to life is then guaranteed specifically by the [14th] Amendment.’

Will Colorado honor God or honor man?

9News wants you to know.

"Martin's reverence for life and joy for living are imbedded in every sentence."

Changing hate to love
A Holocaust survivor eases his pain by sharing a message of hope with Colorado
By Electa Draper
The Denver Post
Article Last Updated: 05/12/2008 06:08:43 AM MDT

Martin Small shows a bullet wound from an escape attempt long ago. "People here listen to me," Small said of Coloradans. "The Holocaust changed one word, love, to hate. People here changed hate to love." (Helen H. Richardson, The Denver Post )
Martin Small says he feels an indescribable mixture of dread and eagerness in remembering and retelling his stories of the Holocaust.

In the five years he has lived in Broomfield, the 91-year-old artist says, the people of Colorado have embraced his stories and changed his life.

"People here listen to me," Small said. "The Holocaust changed one word, love to hate. People here changed hate to love."
Small's wife of 57 years, Doris, is also also a survivor of the Nazis' effort to exterminate Jews during World War II.
The couple moved to Colorado from New York in 2003 to be near their daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family, he said, is everything to him

To his amazement, his Colorado family grew to include Catholic scholars, evangelical clergy, students of all stripes— an ever-expanding community embracing him as messenger.

In 2007, Regis University, a Catholic Jesuit institution, honored Small as Civis Princeps, or First Citizen.
One of Small's large artworks, one celebrating the unity of Jews and Christians, stands in the foyer of the Faith Bible Chapel in Arvada."Martin and Doris are a blessing to us," said Steve Small,a member of Faith Bible and no relation. "I have come to know God better through Martin."

Small, born Mordechai Schmulewicz in the Polish village of Molczadz in 1916, saw his world collapse under Nazi occupation.
"I was a farmer. We lived with the gentiles like brothers," Small said. "Overnight they became the collaborators of the Nazis. Why did my best friend from school start calling me 'Dirty Jew?'
"That's a question no one can answer."

By age 25 Small had experienced threats of torture and death by boyhood chums.

LAUREN RICHARDSON - YOU CAN HELP!
By Judie Brown

It has been a source of ongoing sadness to read of the difficulties Lauren Richardson’s father has had over the course of the past several months. For those of you who are not familiar with her case, Lauren overdosed on heroin on August 28, 2006. She suffered oxygen deprivation and, as a result of the overdose, is now in a coma and unable to speak out for herself. At the time of the overdose, Lauren was expecting a baby. Her parents honored what they knew would have been her wish and did all they could to keep her healthy and comfortable until the child was born. Today, though Lauren may not be aware of it, she is the mother of Ember Grace, who was born in February 2007.

Since the birth of her daughter, Lauren remains unable to speak of her concerns, but she has a loving father who is doing all he can to protect her from suffering the same fate as Terri Schiavo. However, Lauren’s mother, who has been named her legal guardian, is sadly not of the same opinion and is working with attorneys to pressure the courts to permit Lauren’s starvation.

Lauren’s father has kept hope alive, even at times when there appeared to be no hope in human terms. Lauren’s father is a man of hope in Christ and is dedicated to spending every breath he has on defending Lauren, regardless of what it might cost him in physical exhaustion and worldly goods. The most recent update for those concerned about Lauren tells us the following:

We struggle at times as we seek to share with the public the details of what is happening with Lauren because of the disagreement we have with Lauren’s mother. We cannot understand her reasoning in refusing a path of hope, healing and restoration for Lauren and insisting on causing her death by withholding food and water from her. The issue in Lauren’s case is the eternal truth that all people, no matter what their medical condition, bear the image of God and deserve basic care and an opportunity to be restored to health.

Bobby Schindler, Terri Schiavo’s brother, has written about Lauren in an editorial earlier this year, "False Compassion," and is working closely with Lauren’s father in order to provide expertise that he is uniquely qualified to share during a trying time like this.

There are many links on the Life for Lauren web site that will assist you in tracking this case and learning who is supporting Lauren’s ongoing care and who is opposing it. More importantly, there is something you can do to express your concerns.

ACTION NEEDED NOW

The governor of Delaware, Ruth Ann Minner, is being asked by pro-life Americans across this nation to intervene in this case in order to save Lauren from what many fear is an imminent court order dictating that Lauren be starved and dehydrated to death. I am asking you to be one of those who communicates your passionate belief that Lauren’s life is sacred and deserves to be protected from those who would order her death. The governor’s e-mail address is governor.minner@state.de.us.

Further, it would mean a great deal to Lauren’s father, Randy, if you sent him a copy of your e-mail to Governor Ruth Ann Minner. Randy’s e-mail address is Lifeforlauren@aol.com.

During a recent visit to Anchorage, Alaska where Bobby Schindler was invited to speak, he told a reporter from The Catholic Anchor, "Once we accept that killing is an acceptable answer to human suffering, we lose any type of parameters. Euthanasia is a form of abandonment. It is not compassion."

Truer words were never spoken. As I frequently tell people who argue that we pro-lifers are being heartless and cruel for fighting to defend the rights of a "hopeless case," "God is the author of every human being’s life, and He has never given permission to a single one of us to arbitrarily rob another human being of life for any reason including disability or illness."

As Flannery O’Connor once wrote on the subject of false compassion, "In the absence of faith, we govern by tenderness. And tenderness leads to the gas chamber."

Lauren Richardson is not terminal – she is severely disabled. Lauren Richardson should not be murdered.

Judie Brown is president of American Life League and a member of the Pontifical Academy for Life.

Barack Obama is so confident, so well-spoken, so self-assured, so articulate.

Most of the time.

If you want to see Barack Obama uneasy, at a loss for words, tentative, halting, just ask him one of the simplest and most profound questions to be debated in the public square for the last 35 years – since he was 12 years old.

The question: "Do you believe life begins at conception and, if not, when does it begin?"

PLEADING TO ABORT AND PLEADING TO

Do we have a common theme in Edith Tower's
world view?

In this Youtube video, Lauren's father, Randy
Richardson, explains his former wife, Edith's
role in Lauren's current state of limbo.

One would think her former pro-death proclivities
would disqualify her from having Lauren's best
interests at heart.

One would be wrong!

To quote Pastor Bob Enyart, "It's no longer a justice system,
it's just a system!"

BOB'S FOCUSED ON FEDERAL ISSUES! ????

Dear Bob,
Thank you for contacting the Bob Schaffer for U.S. Senate Campaign, we appreciate hearing from you. Bob has not taken a public position on a proposed Colorado Human Life Amendment. The proposed amendment is still in the process of meeting the necessary requirements to make it on to the ballot. Additionally Bob has been focused on federal issues, rather than state issues, since he is running for federal office.

Bob believes in the sanctity of life. He has a consistent pro-life voting record and will continue that record in the U.S. Senate. Bob consistently earned 100% ratings from the National Right to Life while serving in the U.S. House of
Representatives. Promoting human dignity cannot, or course, end at birth. Bob also believes we should be doing more to promote adoption, as well as giving parents the tools to provide children with adequate health care and a quality education.

If you have any further questions or comments for Bob or the campaign, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Sincerely,

Joshua Shields

DO WE LOVE GOD'S WORD THIS MUCH?
Cal's report from China!

"It was nineteen years ago when I first went to China with Bibles. Five of us successfully got 1,300 lbs. of Bibles to northern China. "Charles" met us and got our load safely to the Christians. Feeling like a hero of the Cross after a long, hot, dirty train ride, I asked him about who all was receiving this shipment of Bibles. "It sure was a lot of work to get them here. I sure hope that they appreceiate them."

Charles told us that our load was slotted for 50 house-Church pastors who were currently students at a big university in the city. It was the middle of June. They were to graduate at the end of June and return to their home cities with Bibles. Charles had give one of them a Bible and a couple of Gospel tracts in early March. As a student, this pastor got the equivalent of $.50 per day for food. For $.20 daily, this pastor could buy one scoop of steamed white rice. At the end of every week he saved enough money from not eating to purchase a postage stamp and an envelope. For three and one-half months he tore a couple of pages out of his Bible and weekly sent them home to his city in southwest China. Charles had just visited him the night before our arrival. He was having dizzy spells, had blacked-out once, and had some internal bleeding. Out of three stages of malnutrition, this guy was in number two! Charles lovingly advised him to not send any pages home that week but to buy and eat some vegetables, fruit, and meat. After all, he would be back home in two weeks. The young pastor/student replied, "Brother, you hurt me."

"I'm sorry. What is it?" asked Charles.

This humble Christian went on, "Brother, you offend me. You don't know what you are talking about. In my home city, we have a church of over 200 Christians ready to die for Jesus. Many more people are hungry to know about God also. In our church, we only had two pages of the Bible. When you become a new believer, and are ready to die for Jesus, and get baptized, then you get to look at one of page of the Bible. You do nothing else until you have that page memorized. Then, you give it back to the church and the next person starts memorizing it so the pages are always being memorized. We pray and take turns fasting, asking God to give our church one Bible. How can I sin against God? How can I sin against my brothers and sisters in my home church by living here in luxury with a Bible and not sharing it with them?"

I didn't feel like a hero of the Cross anymore. I repented and asked God to teach me to love and to give like that. Thus, I keep taking teams back to China to bless our persecuted brothers and sisters.

In my next column, I'll describe how you can help get Bibles into China through the mail, financial donations, and taking them in yourself.

Lauren Richardson Case Eerily Similar To Schiavo

The clock is ticking away the life of Lauren Marie Richardson, a 23-year-old woman who suffered an anoxic brain injury as the result of a heroin overdose in August 2006. A decision is due any day whether Lauren lives or dies. She has been sentenced to death by dehydration and starvation by Delaware Court of Chancery Master Sam Glasscock III by granting guardianship to her mother who wants to remove Lauren’s feeding tube which will result in her painful and agonizing death, in the same manner as Terri Schiavo.

LET LAUREN LIVE ALERT !!!!

Great News - Lauren's video resurfaces!

Lauren Richardson's father Randy had been thwarted
in his efforts to save his daughter by a court order
forbidding the youtube video of Lauren interacting with
her dog and friends.

The video clearly shows that Lauren is NOT in a persistent
vegetative state, which her mother Edith is claiming.

Edith has custody of Lauren's baby girl and has never allowed
them to visit.

What kind of grandmother would be so unkind to her daughter,
as to keep her from her baby and try to have her starved?

PERHAPS THIS MOTHER'S DAY WOULD BE A GREAT DAY TO MAKE
AMENDS, Edith !!!!

LEST WE FORGET

ISRAEL: Holocaust remembrance day begins loaded week

This is the most loaded week in Israel's year. One week of grounding; an anchor, a reality-check, the center of gravity.

Holocaust Remembrance Day is being marked Thursday. In exactly one week, the country shall commemorate its war and terror victims, back to back with Independence Day the following day. The essence of Israeliness compressed into a week of transitions: past to present, grief to celebration, individual to collective, Jew to Israeli.

The changes are sharp, nearly impossible at times. Yet most Israelis are accustomed to furious swinging of the pendulum of its national mood and emotions.

A week apart, Holocaust Remembrance and Independence Day - with the price paid for the latter in between - are bookends containing the modern text of a nation; the commemoration days were among the first laws passed by Israeli governments.

This year, aside from remembering those who perished, Holocaust Remembrance Day is dedicated to the living survivors. "On this day more than any other day - we bow deeply in gratitude; we stand erect in boundless pride of the contribution by Holocaust survivors to building this country," said Prime Minister Olmert last night at Yad VaShem.

But it is more than gratitude the aging survivors need. 90,000 of the 260,000 survivors living in Israel today live below the line of poverty. Olmert also admitted that "the State did not always fulfill its duty to the survivors. Regrettably, we sinned and failed by depriving the survivors of their right to live a life of quality and dignity... We spoke of the Holocaust and its lessons, of the murderers and their victims, but our eyes were blind to some of the survivors who lived lives of wretchedness and poverty. There is no justification for this nor can it be forgiven." We have changed this, he said, with the allocation of special funds.

Many survivors did not talk about their experiences during the country's early years. Too fresh, too raw, too alien the contradiction to the strong, self-reliant Sabra image Israel was trying to forge. Busy building its future, the young nation embraced survivors as immigrants with a role in the national enterprise but less as individual witnesses. Few asked. Even fewer answered.

The trial of Adolph Eichmann marked the change. 110 survivors testified in the trial, which undid the unspoken vow of silence. Survivors were recognized as individuals, with experiences that were personal and not only collective. The Holocaust acquired faces and names, and the often oppressive silence in which survivors' children were raised began to be put into words. Israel's population in 1961, the year of the trial, was 2 million. Of these, a quarter were holocaust survivors.

OR REPEAT!!

Is Bob Schaffer having his macaca moment over the Mariana Islands?

If you have forgotten, or never knew, “macaca” was the infamous racial epithet that sunk the 2006 re-election campaign (and presidential hopes) of Virginia Sen. George Allen. Flustered by an opposing campaign volunteer videotaping him, Allen hurled the derogatory term (used by French colonials comparing native Africans to macaque monkeys) at S.R. Sidarth, a native-born Virginian of Indian ancestry. Though Allen eventually apologized, after trotting out multiple non-credible explanations for his outburst, his campaign manager never did, instead aggressively attacking the media for reporting the story and portraying his client as the victim. The genius who drove Allen's campaign into the ditch was “Dirty” Dick Wadhams, now managing Bob Schaffer's run for Colorado's open U.S. Senate seat (while simultaneously running the Colorado Republican Party).

Though you'd get no clue from reading our moribund local daily, the story all over the Denver media and burning up the blogosphere revolves around then-Fort Collins Congressman Schaffer's lavish 1999 junket to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, a U.S. territory notorious for its near-slavery working conditions. To cut to the heart of this twisted and sordid tale, imprisoned ex-lobbyist Jack Abramoff and indicted ex-Congressional Majority Leader Tom Delay were spreading big bucks around to keep a “Made in the U.S.A.” label on these sweatshop goods while exempting the territory from U.S. labor laws. The Senate finally closed this loophole earlier this month on a 91-4 vote.

So how did this long-forgotten issue come back from the dead? Amazingly, Schaffer himself revived it! In a Denver Post profile, he pointed to the Marianas as a model for the kind of guest worker program he'd like to see adopted nationally to help fix our broken immigration system. That set the scribes to researching the 1999 trip, complete with travel arrangements handled by Abramoff's firm, free accommodations for Bob and his wife Maureen at a beach resort, meetings with Abramoff clients like the Saipan Garment Manufacturers' Association, and some lovely parasailing lessons. The textile factory owners told Bob that labor conditions were peachy keen and all the reports of workers imported from China and Bangladesh under false pretenses, housed in barracks surrounded by barbed wire, laboring 12 hours a day, seven days a week, desperately trying to make their quotas, were just a smear campaign cooked up by union bosses. And so Bob dutifully reported back. Mission accomplished.

When the dirty laundry re-aired, Wadhams used the same tactic that worked so well in Virginia that it tipped control of the entire U.S. Senate to the Democrats. He belligerently blamed the media and portrayed his client as the victim. When the story did not blow away from Dick's bluster, Bob went on talk radio to explain that he hardly knew Abramoff, and that the trip was sponsored by a California-based religious group (cue the herald angels) called the Traditional Values Coalition (TVC). According to the Post article, TVC often “acted virtually as a political arm of Abramoff's lobbying operation.”

One group not buying Schaffer's explanation is the anti-abortion movement, which should be firmly in his camp. Colorado Right to Life accused him of ignoring the well-documented practice of forced abortions when factory workers get pregnant. Steve Curtis, head of American Right to Life Action and a former chairman of the Colorado Republican Party, told the Post "the pro-life movement will no longer give a pass to candidates like Bob Schaffer which should be firmly in his camp. Colorado Right to Life accused him of ignoring the well-documented practice of forced abortions when factory workers get pregnant. Steve Curtis, head of American Right to Life Action and a former chairman of the Colorado Republican Party, told the Post "the pro-life movement will no longer give a pass to candidates like Bob Schaffer who look the other way when Chinese women are forced to abort their children." Both groups reportedly asked to meet with Schaffer, who declined. Besides, Schaffer noted that in his five days there, “I did not observe a forced abortion.” Um, Bob, they probably don't do that at the resort pool or right in front of visiting Congressmen. Maybe in a back room somewhere, ya think?

You say macaca, I say Mariana, let's call the whole thing off!

MONDAY MORNING POLITICKING WITH
BOB SCHAFFER!

Welcome to the TWILIGHT ZONE!

In response to questions about American Right to Life's allegations that former Congressman Schaffer turned a blind eye to the plight of Chinese women regarding forced abortion and his support of MFN for China, this interview is priceless as an example of duck and cover!

Monday Morning Politicking with Bob Schaffer

By Jeremy Pelzer
…This week's Monday Morning Politicking… conversation with Schaffer. He discussed recent reports regarding his 1999 trip to the Northern Marianas Islands… Schaffer was accompanied by his campaign manager, Dick Wadhams, who jumped into the conversation at several points.

PolitickerCO: The campaign's been fairly quiet about the whole Marianas Islands controversy since it came out in the Post about a week or so ago. What's your take on this whole controversy and how it's played out?

Schaffer: Why don't you describe the controversy?

PolitickerCO: Well, just that the Post put out a series of articles detailing how, one, you went to the Marianas Islands and it was funded by or organized by Preston Gates...

Schaffer: Really? Was it?

Wadhams: No.

(Politickerco Editor's Note: Schaffer's trip, according to the Denver Post, was not paid for by Preston Gates, jailed lobbyist Jack Abramoff's former law firm. According to the Post, it was paid for by the California-based Traditional Values Coalition, which Schaffer described as a religious group "concerned with human rights." The Post also reported that "Later investigations have shown that in many instances, TVC - which claims to represent 43,000 churches - acted virtually as a political arm of Abramoff's lobbying operation.")

Schaffer: Why don't you take the opportunity to substantiate your comment just now?

PolitickerCO: Sure, sure. This is just -well, what is your take on the controversy? Why don't you fill me in?

Schaffer: Why don't you describe the controversy?

The stonewalling continues . . . .

To hear Bob Enyart's play by play description of this crazy obfuscation and hear the latest on the Colorado for Equal Rights Personhood Amendment effort, which U.S. Senate candidate Schaffer won't support, listen daily at kgov.com

A survivor of China's forced-abortion policy is warning Americans they share the responsibility for that nation's holocaust of government-mandated death through their consumerism.

The testimony comes from Shiu Yon Zhou, whose ordeal in which she lost the child who would have been her first-born has been played before Congress, on national television and in the media.

But she spoke to WND today in light of the 2008 Olympics which are scheduled in Beijing and to counter statements being released by the Chinese government that the human rights situation, long deplored as one of the worst on record, is improving.

Her story was revealed to WND in sometimes-halting English, as she still works to grasp the idiomatics of the language she now teaches to her three children, ages 6, 4, and 2, at home.

After Irreconcilable Differences Lead To Split With GOP, Alan Keyes Invited To Party

Lancaster, PA- Responding to news that former Reagan administration official Alan Keyes has officially left the Republican Party, (http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/2008-04-16-keyes_N.htm) Constitution Party National Committee Chairman Jim Clymer applauded the move and extended Keyes an invitation to become part of the fastest-growing third party- the Constitution Party.

“You can almost hear a nationwide standing ovation. Ambassador Keyes joins millions of Americans abandoning the party that long ago abandoned them. Keyes had the courage to say what a lot of folks have been thinking for years- that the Republican Party’s leadership is way out of touch with its base”, Clymer added, saying: “ We encourage Dr. Keyes and his supporters to discover there’s a perfect fit for them. We no longer have to endure elected officials who defy the will of the people. There is an option in the Constitution Party”.

Former United Nations Ambassador Alan Keyes announced his break with the Republican Party at a speech in Hazleton, Pa, a city known for Mayor Lou Barletta’s aggressive efforts to stop illegal immigration.
Keyes said the two political parties now controlling our government are “a sham” and encouraged his audience to demand a return to the way the founding fathers meant it to be when they wrote the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.

Keyes said the “Republican Party has come to a dark and confused place.” ““Dark and confused” are terms that apply to the Republican Party’s handling of just about every issue facing America today”, Clymer noted, agreeing with Keyes. “From appalling complicity in the illegal invasion, to historic trade deficits, assaults on civil liberties and out of control spending, the Republicans have sold out their base time and again. Alan Keyes’s break with the GOP is a real shot in the arm for Americans who’ve come to the conclusion the Republicans can no longer be considered the party of conservatives”, Clymer added.

The Constitution Party, the largest and fastest-growing third party based on voter registration (Ballot Access News) will choose a presidential candidate at its national convention, April 23- 26th in Kansas City, Missouri.(http://constitutionparty.com/view_events.php). Dr. Keyes is scheduled to address the gathering of delegates from all 50 states. Alan Keyes will be encouraged to offer delegates his plan for returning America to its constitutional foundation.

I LOVE THIS LEFTY BLOG POST!

"Way to Go, Radical Lifers!"

This left wing blog makes a really powerful and valid point about the national conversation, long overdue, but which has recently been started by Colorado Right to Life over forced abortion in China and a Republican U.S. Senatorial candidate's refusal to support the Colorado for Equal Rights Personhood
Amendment.

"So, for those of you keeping score at home, being against forced abortions=radical fringe pro-life position. Supporting forced abortions and saying they’re part of a model program=mainstream. Good to know."

Bill Press posted this pertinent comment to yesterday's Lynn Bartels' Rocky Mountain News story, "Schaffer engulfed
in abortion storm."

"Let me get this straight. Schaffer needs the bishops to tell him whether or not to support a 15-word, pro-life initiative? That doesn't ring true."

WELCOME TO THE WORLD, TRIG !!

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin Gives Birth to Down Baby Despite Abortion Pressure

Juneau, AK (LifeNews.com) -- As many as 80 percent of unborn children diagnosed with Down syndrome become victims of abortion, but Alaska Gov, Sarah Palin didn't let her child become a statistic. Palin, who has deeply-felt pro-life views, gave birth to her fifth child this week and the baby was diagnosed with the condition.

On Tuesday, Palin confirmed her baby, named Trig Paxson, has Down syndrome.

"Trig is beautiful and already adored by us," Palin said in a statement LifeNews.com obtained.

"We knew through early testing he would face special challenges, and we feel privileged that God would entrust us with this gift and allow us unspeakable joy as he entered our lives," she said.

'We have faith that every baby is created for good purpose and has potential to make this world a better place. We are truly blessed," the 44 year-old governor added.

Trig was born on Friday, one month before his due date, and he weighed 6 pounds, 2 ounces.

Pro-life advocates heaped praise on Palin about the news and said she and her family made a courageous decision to keep the baby.

“I can't help but remember Governor Palin’s campaign slogan ‘Take a Stand,'" Debbie Joslin, the president of Eagle Forum Alaska told LifeNews.com.

"Her choice to value life in a very personal way speaks volumes and gives those of us in the pro-life community in Alaska cause to believe that we truly do have a pro-life leader in charge of our state," she said.

"When so many in our culture have chosen to devalue the lives of those who face special learning disabilities, Governor Palin shines as a great positive role model," Joslin added.

Billy Valentine, a pro-life student leader who worked on the presidential campaign of Sam Brownback, was equally excited.

"Thanks be to God that Gov. Palin is pro-life and the baby wasn't one of the 80% of Down syndrome lives that are aborted each year," he said.

"Say a prayer for Gov. Palin and her family and thank God that the baby is blessed with a pro-life family," Valentine added.

The Palins have four other children including Track, 18, Bristol, 17, Willow, 13 and Piper, 7.
